Being Everyone’s Judge

Welcome to my campaign website.
After more than 30 years as a Los Angeles County Deputy Public Defender, over 100 jury trials, including some of the county’s most serious homicide and special circumstance cases, service as a Temporary Judge, and years of community service, I have learned one lesson that guides everything I do:
A judge must be everyone’s judge.
That means treating every person who enters the courtroom with dignity, respect, and fairness. Whether you are a victim, a defendant, a witness, a juror, or a family seeking justice, you deserve a judge who listens carefully, applies the law impartially, and decides every case based on the facts—not politics, headlines, or personal opinions.
Experience matters. So does temperament. Throughout my career, I have handled difficult cases, made tough decisions, and earned the trust of clients, colleagues, judges, and opposing counsel by remaining prepared, thoughtful, and professional.
This campaign is about bringing that experience and steady judgment to the Los Angeles Superior Court.
In the weeks ahead, I’ll use this blog to share my thoughts on justice, public service, and the qualities that make an excellent judge.
Thank you for visiting, and I hope you’ll join me on this journey.
Donna Tryfman
Candidate for Los Angeles Superior Court
